What the WhatsApp Business API is, in plain words
WhatsApp has three business products. The WhatsApp Business app is the free app on one phone. The WhatsApp Business Platform — usually called the WhatsApp Business API — is how software talks to WhatsApp for you: many agents on one number, messages sent from your systems, automation, and campaigns to people who opted in. Meta runs it as the Cloud API; a provider such as Trafficaro gives you the screens and tools on top.

Meta charges for WhatsApp messages by category — marketing, utility, authentication and service — at its published rates for India, billed straight to your WhatsApp Business Account. Trafficaro is a Meta Tech Provider: we never resell Meta's messages, so there is nothing for us to mark up. Some well-known Indian providers add 10% to 40% to Meta's rate on every message (see the comparison); with us you pay Meta's rate. The rules every API user has to follow
The API is powerful because Meta keeps it clean. Trafficaro builds the rules into the product so you do not break them by accident:
- Opt-in first. Only message people who agreed to hear from you on WhatsApp. Every contact carries its consent source and time; opted-out contacts are skipped automatically.
- Templates outside the 24-hour window. You can reply freely for 24 hours after a customer writes; after that, only Meta-approved templates. The inbox shows the window and offers your approved templates when it closes.
- Quality decides your limits. Meta starts a new number on a limited number of business-initiated messages a day and raises it as long as customers do not block or report you. Delivery reports show problems early.
- STOP means stop. Opt-out keywords are recorded at once and honoured in every campaign.

Is Trafficaro an official WhatsApp Business API provider?
Trafficaro connects to the WhatsApp Business Platform through Meta's official Cloud API as a Meta Tech Provider. Your number, your WhatsApp Business Account and your billing with Meta stay yours.
Can I keep using the WhatsApp Business app on my phone?
Yes. Choose "existing WhatsApp Business App number" when you connect, and Meta links the app and the API on the same number. Replies you type in the app also appear in Trafficaro.
Do I get the green tick?
The green tick (Official Business Account) is granted by Meta to notable brands; no provider can promise it. Any business on the API can show its verified display name and profile.
How long does approval take?
Connecting a number takes a few minutes. Meta reviews your display name and each template; templates are often approved within minutes and usually within a day.
Can I send messages to people who have not opted in?
No. WhatsApp's Business Messaging Policy requires opt-in, and sending to purchased lists gets numbers restricted. Trafficaro gives you opt-in pages and widgets so you can build a list properly.
What happens to Meta's charges?
Meta bills your WhatsApp Business Account directly at its own rates; you add a payment method in Meta's Business Manager. Trafficaro never sees or marks up that money. Indian accounts must be billed in rupees by 31 December 2026 — Meta stops delivering for accounts that are not.
